Books on running

What is a good book on running and training for middle distance races?
I am running a 1/2 marathon in early December.
Am now reading the book "Galloway's Book of Running". He espouses not running hard...If you can not carry on a normal conversation TOO FAST!
Also take walking breaks every 10 minutes, even during races.
Not sure how comfortable I am with this method???

Re: Books on running

I just read BORN TO RUN by Chris McDougall and I think it is awesome. Not a book about training, but good.

Also look at Chi Running and the Pose Method of Running.

For training plans, there are a bunch of free ones from places like Runners World.
